finding your way around the resort

Almost all of the upmarket ski accommodation is in Obertauern itself and within easy reach of lifts giving access into the ski area. (One of the hotels listed below is in Untertauern, the hamlet before Obertauern when driving from the Salzburg direction, and also on the lift circuit.)

Although the resort seems compact, the length of the built-up area can be deceiving and a walk from one end to another takes a good 30-45 minutes for most people.

The lay-out of the resort is simple enough (essentially along a road over a mountain pass) the sheer number of hotels means that it pays to keep a sharp eye on the resort signage when looking for accommodation.
