The size of the town means that Zell am See has a wide choice of different types of accommodation - ranging from lakeside villas used by the well-off in the early 20th century through to more modern all-inclusive resort-style hotels.
The neighbouring village of Schüttdorf at the south end of the lake offers a different character but equally good access to the ski slopes.

Most accommodation is within easy reach of lifts giving access into the ski area. The central part of Zell am See is easily traversed on foot but ski buses may be needed for accommodation outside the central area.

The building was first mentioned way back in the 15th century and has been run by the same family since the middle of the 19th century. The hotel at the northern end of Lake Zell around 2km from the centre of Zell am See and is especially well-suited for drivers who also want to sample other ski resorts in the area, such as Saalbach-Hinterglemm or Kaprun.

The Hotel Berner has an enviable location in Zell am See with panoramic views over the lake. It is only five minutes' walk from the town centre but guests are able to ski to a lift at the beginning of the day and ski back to the hotel at the end. The hotel is run by the third generation of the same family.
