Salzburg Airport is certainly the most popular airport for Kaprun and Zell am See, but Munich and Innsbruck are also possibilities.
Salzburg
Airport
Salzburg airport is just under 100 kilometers away from Kaprun. What is probably the most popular route takes the A10 motorway south from the city towards the Tauern tunnel. The motorway exit is just before Bischofshofen and heads through St Johann im Pongau and Bruck before reaching Kaprun. An alternate route on more minor roads is to cross Germany via Bad Reichenhall to Lofer and then to head south through Saalfelden and Zell am See.
Innsbruck
Airport
Innsbruck Airport is generally a second choice for skiers heading to Zell am See or Kaprun - however it is a popular charter airport and choices of flights may dictate transfers to the resort. If this is the case, the best route is along the motorway to Wörgl, then via Kitzbühel over Pass Thurn and down along the valley to Kaprun.
Munich
Airport
Munich Airport is a fairly straightforward route to Kaprun. Motorists should follow the motorway towards Rosenheim and then south in the direction of Kufstein. One option in good weather is to take the route via Oberaudorf, Reit im Winkl and Waidring, or alternatively use the longer main road via Wörgl, Westendorf and Pass Thurn.
