Ski Austria
Kaltenbach Salzburg Innsbruck Munich

hotel & travel information

The surprisingly limited range of four- and three-star hotels are located both in Kaltenbach (at the bottom of the ski lifts) and across the river and main road in the neighbouring village of Stumm.

Kaltenbach is the main après-ski and party centre - this is where a lot of the day trippers will end up at the end of their time on the slopes while the quieter village of Stumm is well-known - at least in the Tyrol - for being where the parents of world champion skier Stefan Eberharter live. There is a free ski bus from there to the lifts.

Kaltenbach is a convenient resort both for those who have their own transport and for those wishing to use public transport, such as the rail network.

Airport gif Innsbruck Airport

By far and away the closest and most convenient airport is Innsbruck. The route from the airport heads east along the Inn valley before turning into the wide Ziller valley at Jenbach.

Airport gif Salzburg Airport

The most straightforward route from Salzburg airport is via the motorway, taking the route into Germany and then turning south near Rosenheim and over the Austria border into the Inn valley and along to Jenbach and the Ziller valley. Another option is using the route Salzburg-Lofer-Wörgl through a small section of Germany and then country roads through Ellmau and Söll. The route joins onto the first option at Wörgl on the Inn valley motorway.

Airport gif Munich Airport

The route from Munich Airport heads south to Rosenheim and Kufstein and then follows the Inn valley motorway and the Ziller valley as above.
