Gerlos Salzburg Innsbruck Munich

travel & hotel information

Gerlos is split into various hamlets along the road up to the pass. Much, but not all, of the hotel accommodation is located near the bottom of the various lifts or the central part of the main settlement.

There is a good ski bus system along the valley for those hotels who are a little further afield and ski runs head back down into the central village area as well as to the bottom of the lifts.

Gerlos is one of the more difficult destinations for the independent traveller without access to car transport to get to.

Airport gif Innsbruck Airport

Innsbruck Airport is the most convenient both for choice of potential packages and for the proximity and ease of public transport. Essentially the journey takes the same route as for the more popular resort of Mayrhofen - in other words, heading along the Inn Valley motorway until Jenbach and then turning off into the long Ziller valley. Just before Mayrhofen is the town of Zell am Ziller and the route to Gerlos and the pass heads east from here.

Airport gif Salzburg Airport

Salzburg airport offers three different options to get to Gerlos. The first is to head south down to Bischofshofen and then along past Zell am See through to Mittersill and Krimml before going over the Gerlos pass. The second takes the same route over the pass but uses the route Salzburg-Lofer-Zell am See. The most straightforward is probably the one using the most motorway through Germany to Kufstein and then along the Inn valley motorway to Jenbach to join up with the route above from Innsbruck.

Airport gif Munich Airport

The route from Munich Airport heads south to Rosenheim and Kufstein and then follows the Inn valley motorway and the Ziller valley as above.
