Pitztal Glacier in Full Swing

All systems go

Those who are happy to get up early will be pleased to know that the first express up to the Pitztal glacier starts at at 07.00. The Pitztal glacier is considered one of the most snow-sure ski areas in Europe and started full operation with all lifts on Saturday 10 October.

Now all lifts, including Austria’s highest gondola, the Wildspitzbahn, are ready to take guests up to 3440 metres above sea level and to pamper them on perfectly groomed natural snow slopes.

Café 3.440 also offers excellent cakes from its own pastry shop, with a view of more than 50 three-thousand-metre peaks.

On Wednesday, 07 October, the first Austrian high-altitude cross-country ski run opened on the Pitztal glacier at an altitude of around 2700 metres above sea level. It is the first cross-country ski run that both professional and amateur athletes can use in Austria this year with three kilometres of skating tracks.

There is a discounted cross-country ski pass for the ascent and descent with the Glacier Express and the Gletscherseebahn (25 Euros for adults).
