The Tyrol’s alpine urban HQ impresses both powder fans and freeride enthusiasts.
There are four legendary but very different freeride areas around Innsbruck and the city itself has long had a reputation among connoisseurs of the scene as the perfect base for cool days in the snow.
The perfect freeride day can be experiencedin four different ski areas around the capital of the Alps: on the Nordkette, in the Kühtai, in the Axamer Lizum or on the Stubai Glacier.

The mountains offer completely different terrain and slope exposures. So you can almost always pull untracked first lines into deep snow slopes around Innsbruck in winter.
But it’s not just the untracked deep-snow slopes that lure visitors to Freeride City Innsbruck.
This year, for example, Innsbruck will be a tour stop at three top-class film events during the Freeride Filmdays from 05 to 09 November 2019.
The international Freeride Film Festival will make a guest appearance in Innsbruck on 06 November at the start of its 10th anniversary tour.
On 08 November the Freeride Filmbase will take place in the Metropol cinema on the biggest screen in Western Austria. Here Innsbruck celebrates its freeride films. Seven short films, which couldn’t be more extraordinary, will be presented with riders and filmmakers as guests on stage.
The Grande Finale on 09 November is the Linehunters Movie Tour – founded by freeriders for freeriders.
The Linehunters Movie Tour brings young teams into movie-making with innovative approaches, pure passion and surprising perspectives. Low- to no-budget mixes with established productions, action from New Zealand to Japan, thoughtful concepts from the Lebanon and irony from the Alps.
TIP: The Innsbruck Alpine Tradeshow will also take place from 09 to 10 November, an alpine weekend packed with workshops, multivisions and outstanding mountain sports products. All film tickets already include admission to the Alpine Tradeshow.
