Skiing in Wagrain - Details
From the village, the Grafenbergexpress provides access to a broad, open area of predominantly red runs with a link to the ski area of St. Johann im Pongau Alpendorf. This side of the mountain is particularly well suited for beginners and intermediates with very wide pistes.
On the opposite side, the Flying Mozart gondola leads up to the Griessenkareck, where the terrain becomes slightly steeper and more varied. From here, skiers can continue towards Flachau or take the panorama link to Mooskopf where the Absoult Park – one of the biggest Fun Parks in the world – awaits. Even if you are not keen on jumping and sliding – just watching is very enjoyable.
Several runs both on the Wagrain/Flachau or Flachauwinkl side are quite long especially the “Rote 8er”. Although expert terrain is limited, there are enough steeper pitches such as the Giftabfahrt or Steilhang Mulde to add steep pistes for confident skiers.
The overall layout makes it easy to ski back towards Wagrain from multiple directions, reinforcing its role as a practical base within a large ski area.
