Getting to Niederau

Niederau lies in the Wildschönau which is a side valley from the main Inn valley, which rises to the south of the main town and traffic junction of Wörgl. Innsbruck airport is the most convenient for travel to the Wildschönau valley, but both Munich and Salzburg airports are also easily accessible through the excellent motorway connections to Wörgl.

Driving to Niederau

Innsbruck Airport
Niederau can be reached by a 30 minute journey east along the Inn valley to Wörgl and then another quarter of an hour’s drive up into Wildschönau and through to Niederau. Oberau is another five minutes’ drive away, while Auffach is probably closer to an additional 15 minutes. Train connections to Wörgl from the centre of Innsbruck are also excellent.

Innsbruck Airport is one of the main charter hubs in the winter, but also offers a good range of scheduled flights suitable for skiers which also run on weekdays.

Salzburg Airport
Salzburg Airport is less than two hours away from Niederau. There is a choice of routes: the first uses the road through the “German corner” near the airport and then via St Johann in Tirol to Wörgl and the entrance to the Wildschönau.

In snow this can be a slow route – an alternate choice is to use the German motorway to the junction with the Munich-Inn valley motorway north of Rosenheim.

Munich Airport
Munich Airport is situated under two hours away from the Wildschönau. The airport is located to the north of the city, and the motorway network bypasses Munich to the east and then heads down to Rosenheim, where it joins up with the motorway from Salzburg, and the border at Kufstein.
