Skiing in Nassfeld - Details
The main lift hub at Nassfeld is definitely the Kofel Center at the Kofelplatz-Madritsche. Other lift hubs are located at the Gartnerkofel and Troghöhe areas. Nassfeld offers modern gondolas and high-capacity chairlifts providing efficient access to the slopes. From these points, skiing fans out in several directions, allowing skiers to cover a large area without feeling funnelled into a single valley.
Much of the skiing consists of long blue and red runs that maintain a consistent pitch, making Nassfeld particularly appealing to confident beginners and intermediates who enjoy uninterrupted descents. Several runs stretch for multiple kilometres, with wide pistes that remain comfortable even during busier periods. The Valley run is the longest run with 7,6 km starting from Zweikofel and ending in Tröpolach.
The Italian-facing slopes tend to offer sunnier conditions, while the north-facing runs often retain good snow quality later in the season.
Off piste skiing is possible in places after fresh snowfall, though the resort’s focus remains firmly on piste skiing rather than freeride terrain.
Snowboarders and freestyle skiers will find designated snowpark areas, while families benefit from clear piste signage and well-separated beginner zones. The overall layout of the ski area makes it easy to return to the main lift hubs from most parts of the mountain. Just be advised if you have your accommodation in the valley in Tröpolach or Hermagor and you end up in an apres ski bar in Köfel Center or Gartnerkofel you still have to take at least 3 lifts in order to be able to take the valley run.
