Katschberg Ski Resort

The skiing area around Katschberg stretches across both sides of the mountain pass, connecting the villages of Katschberg and St. Margarethen. This creates a surprisingly varied ski area, with long cruising runs, gentle learning slopes and enough steeper sections to keep confident skiers entertained.

Katschberg has modern lift infrastructure, making it easy to move around the ski area without long queues. Many hotels offer direct ski-in ski-out or just very short walking distance to the slopes, which adds to the convenience and makes the resort particularly appealing for families with children.

Beyond skiing, Katschberg also offers winter walking paths, tobogganing and other non-ski activities, making it suitable for mixed-ability groups. The village itself remains rather quiet in the evenings, focusing more on relaxed dining than nightlife.

Katschberg is relatively easy to reach by car via the Tauern motorway, with Salzburg Airport being the most common arrival point. While public transport connections exist, most visitors choose to arrive by car or transfer for convenience.
