Ski Resorts in Carinthia
Carinthia lies in southern Austria and offers a more relaxed style of skiing compared to some of the country’s larger Alpine regions in Tyrol or Salzburg. The province is known for its scenic mountain landscapes combined with great lakes, a slightly milder climate, and ski resorts that combine good snow reliability with a calmer more laid back atmosphere. While Carinthia does not have the same density of ski resorts as regions further north, it is home to a small number of well-established ski areas.
Nassfeld is the largest and most snow-reliable ski resort in Carinthia, offering extensive skiing across a wide, open area on to the Italian border. It attracts a broad mix of visitors, particularly intermediate skiers, thanks to its long runs, modern lift system and good snow conditions.
Bad Kleinkirchheim is another ski resort in Carinthia, combining a big ski area with a traditional spa town setting. The resort is known for a balanced mix of intermediate terrain, thermal baths and a relaxed village atmosphere, making it a popular choice for families and couples.
