The popular Tyrolean ski resort of Ischgl has announced two new chairlifts for the 2019/20 winter season.
The new detachable 6-seater chairlift Velilleck F1 will be the fastest chairlift in the ski resort, taking skiers to the Pardatschgrat in around six minutes at a speed of six metres per second.
It replaces the old 2-seater chairlift, which was finally dismantled after 41 years of service. The new Velilleck F1 extends the distance of the old lift by 1353 metres. The individual seats are extra wide at 52 centimetres, ergonomically shaped and heatable. The Velilleckbahn bottom station (2048 metres), like the old lift, is located directly on run 7.
Also new: the heatable, detachable 8-seater chairlift “Visnitz N2” is the first 8-seater “D-Line” chairlift in Switzerland and takes winter sports enthusiasts from Alp Trida to the Visnitzkopf at an altitude of 2633 metres in around four and a half minutes. Pictures from the history of Samnaun adorn the backs of the chairs.
The Silvretta Arena has 45 lifts and 239 cross-border kilometres of pistes for winter sports enthusiasts from the start of the season on 28 November 2019 until the end of the season on 03 May 2020.
Ischgl is renowned for its ‘Top of the Mountain’ concerts. The ski opening concert on November 30 will feature the cult Berlin band Seeed while the attraction at the Easter concert on 12 April will be German rapper Sido.
The line-up for the anniversary ‘25 Year Top of the Mountain Closing Concert’ on 02 May 2020 is yet to be announced.
