Packing FAQs
I have never been skiing - what do I really need to buy?
What are Layers? Why do I need them?
How many Ski Clothings should I bring?
Should I rent ski gear or bring my own?
If you’re a beginner or you only ski every other year – renting might be the better option. It is easiest and often most cost effective to rent the equipment. Many resorts have excellent rental shops, and on our resort guides we recommend specific rental providers. We always suggest booking online in advance so you get the best price and your preferred equipment, check our skiing subpages for our trustes ski rental stores.
If you ski regularly and already own good equipment – bring it! Just make sure you have a solid ski bag and check the luggage rules of your airline. Don’t forget to do a Ski-Service! In most ski rental stores you can bring your skis in the afteroon for a “express ski service” and pick them up in the morning.
Should I wear a helmet?
A helmet is a must-have – (not by law but for safety!) whether you rent or buy. I would also recommend to bring your own goggles, not every ski rental store has goggles available for rent – you most likely can buy them in the ski resort if you didn’t bring any. If you like to have a backpack – you don’t need a specific backpack – just make sure its small and pay attention using the lifts to not get stuck.
