The province of the Tyrol has had another extremely warm summer, but a cold snap in September has put a decent amount of snow on the glaciers.
The beginning of October has seen colder weather with some precipitation and, at the start of the month, the glacier ski resorts are open for business.
Over in Salzburg the Kitzsteinhorn is scheduled to open for skiers soon, along with the Mölltal glacier in Carinthia.

The glacier up at Hintertux is in summer skiing mode and, at the start of October, is reporting 65cm of snow and 12 lifts running.

Sölden Glaciers

Most of the runs on the Rettenbach glacier above the ski resort of Sölden are open at the time of writing, with preparations underway for the World Cup races towards the end of this month. The ski resort is reporting up to 95cm of snow and five lifts operating on the glacier.

The glacier ski area at the Kitzsteinhorn in Salzburg is scheduled to open on 05 October (currently it is reporting 15cm of snow) and the Mölltal glacier in Carinthia is planned to open a week later on 12 October.
