Last updated: August 2026

November marks the start of the ski season in Austria, with glacier resorts such as Sölden or Stubai Glacier already open and the first non glacier ski areas Obertauern and Obergurgl usually beginning to follow later in the month.

Snow conditions can of course vary from year to year, but the higher altitude resorts often offer the best chance of great early skiing conditions.

In this article, we keep track of which ski resorts are open in November and update the latest changes throughout the month.

Ski Resorts open in November 2026

2025: The skiing in Austria is already up and running with the glacier ski area above Sölden hosting its regular opening of the World Cup ski season.

The end of October saw the first snowstorm of the season, bringing snow to altitudes of around 1,000 metres. This resulted in some great powder days on some glacier ski areas. This is a good sign that the ski season will be great. While the snow has not settled in most areas, it is a good start to the season for the higher ski resorts mentioned in this article.

Not only did it snow end of october but also mid November with a forcast of lots of snow following in the last November week. Great Start in the Winter season for Austria, some Ski Resorts already published to open earlier than expected – it seems that we can look forward to a great ski season!
