Söll Salzburg Innsbruck Munich

hotels & travel information

Most of Söll's collection of hotels and guesthouses is clustered around the central area on the other side of the main road from the gondola up to the central ski area at Hochsöll.

Accommodation located in the Stampfanger area is however close to the lifts, but away from the village. A village ski bus is available to take people to and from the slopes.

Söll is quite literally in the lucky position of being easily accessible from three main airports.

Airport gif Innsbruck Airport

Innsbruck Airport is the most convenient airport for Söll. Most of the road route from the airport is along the Inn valley motorway to the town of Wörgl, before heading off the main valley and the 15-minute drive through to the village.

Innsbruck is the most popular airport used by UK travel companies with their charter flights. These tend to arrive on a Saturday, with a few arrivals midweek or on a Sunday. The airport has recently welcomed its first "low-cost" carrier to the UK, and these services are rapidly becoming popular for independent skiers.

Airport gif Salzburg Airport

Salzburg Airport is also an easy route for those heading for Söll. Salzburg offers a variety of charter flights, low-cost carriers and scheduled flights. The most popular and shortest route takes minor roads through ski resorts which can, however, make for a long journey in bad weather. It runs through the small part of Germany which separates one part of the province of Salzburg from another and then via Lofer and St Johann to Ellmau and Söll.

An alternate route can be taken via the German motorway system to Kufstein and Wörgl - although longer, this is possibly a better option in bad weather, but may be busy on weekends in high season.

Airport gif Munich Airport

Munich Airport is to the north of the city of Munich but is easily reached by excellent motorway services. However these can get crowded on popular winter weekends as Germans head south towards the Austrian ski resorts and the border at Kufstein. The airport offers a good mix of mainstream scheduled flights and a variety of low-cost carriers.
