scheffau austria
Scheffau, like many of the neighbouring villages, was originally settled by farmers and the name comes from its farming background (literally, a crooked or tilted meadow). The first ski lift was built in the 1960s, but tourism in the village really took off with the construction of a ski lift up to the Brandstadl and the connection to the main SkiWelt area.
Scheffau is a small village with fewer hotels and guesthouses than the more
developed villages nearby, but with a large number of private houses and apartments
on offer as vacation rentals.

There is a small draglift in the village, but the main Scheffau skiing is
located at the top of either gondola lift which starts on the other side of
the main road.
