Salzburg airport is the most convenient location and offers a wide range of flights. But Innsbruck is only a little further away and Munich has good motorway connections into Austria at Kufstein.

Salzburg Airport

Salzburg Airport offers a good variety of charter flights in the winter (mostly on the weekend) as well as the usual scheduled flights. The simplest route for those hiring a car is via the 'Deutsches Eck' ('German corner') to Bad Reichenhall and on through to Austria again in the direction of Lofer. The route heads south at Waidring into the Pillerseetal road, which ends up at Fieberbrunn.

Innsbruck Airport

Innsbruck Airport is only the second choice for Fieberbrunn, despite the fact that the resort is still in the Tyrol. The airport has a great range of charter flights at the weekend and a limited but regular set of scheduled winter flights from some important destinations.

The car route from Innsbruck follows the main Inn valley motorway to the east as far as Wörgl, and then takes the road past Söll and Ellmau to St Johann in Tirol. Drivers need to keep going past the centre of the town in the direction of Salzburg Airport until they see the signs for Fieberbrunn and Saalfelden on the outskirts of St Johann.

Munich Airport

Munich Airport is certainly a decent option for Fieberbrunn with excellent connections to Austria via motorway. Drivers should head south until they hit the turn-off for Kufstein and then carry on through the Austria border. Shortly after Kufstein there is a motorway exit for the country road through to Söll - from there the route takes the same directions as described above under Innsbruck Airport.

Alternatively, and this might be wise in bad weather, drivers can carry on to Wörgl and then exit onto the main road to Söll and Ellmau (once again following the route description above).

train travel

Fieberbrunn Railway Station

The railway station in Fieberbrunn is located on the northern edge of the town - since the settlement is fairly spread out it might be a good idea to take a taxi to accommodation. There are regular regional services from Salzburg train station (reached by bus or tram from the airport).

Those arriving from the north and west (Munich and Innsbruck) will probably change at Wörgl main-line station onto another regional service through Kitzbühel and St Johann.

Fieberbrunn is a village spread out along both sides of the country road leading between St Johann and Leogang.

Much of the accommodation is situated around the cluster of streets near the tourist office on the southern side of the road. There is however some slopeside hotel accommodation at the bottom of the lifts a little way out of town.
