where to go skiing in Austria at the end of the season?

The sun's shining, the grass is slowly turning green instead of brown, but somewhere in Austria they are still skiing...

If you are looking for the final opportunity to get a few turns in before packing the skis away for another season, here is a quick look at some of the main Austrian ski resorts which stay open longer in the season:

Obergurgl
They open early and they close late - of course, an altitude of just under 2000 metres helps with that! Obergurgl is a non-glacier resort but it is a member of the group that are the last to close. This season they are planning to go through to May 1 (accordng to the seasons on the lift tickets) but haven't published any plans for specific end-of-season festivities. Hochgurgl, the higher part of the resort, is having its 50th anniversary celebrations from April 06-19.

Sölden
Sölden is one of the main glacier resorts in the Tyrol and also offers summer skiing later on in the year. It is planning to finish off the winter season with a Glacier Festival from April 29 to May 1 and featuring concerts by U2 and Queen tribute bands.

Lech
Another late-closing non-glacier resort where the snow depths are looking pretty good. Lech makes it through until May, with a spring festival at Oberlech from April 29 - May 1 and the Lech Mountain Trophy from Lech to Zürs on April 30.

Ischgl
Ischgl, as always, has got a big "name" to round off the season - this time it's The Killers who will be playing at the Top Of The Mountain Concert on April 30, with the season carrying on to May 2 to take advantage of the holidays for a certain wedding.

Stubai valley
The Stubai glacier ski area doesn't "do" spring closing - they'll be carrying on through into the summer, snow conditions permitting on some of the highest slopes in the country.

Obertauern
Over to the province of Salzburg and their own high-level non-glacier resort of Obertauern. Located at an altitude of 1750m they too are planning to stay open through to May 1.

Kaprun
The glaciers above Kaprun are another Salzburg ski area that are staying open for the first May weekend, with discos on the mountain and free ski tests of the 2012 models.
